I'm super excited to introduce our new member at the Makery, Tommy, creator of MMRMS Studio- his evocative designs are inspired by dancehall and his Caribbean heritage. Here we speak to Tommy on his work and current projects.

What do you do? My practice centres the discourse around the queer black experience with fashion being my creative practice which discusses the idiosyncrasies of growing up in a homophobic environment whilst being black and queer. I'm also an educator in arts, working as a lecturer in visual culture at UAL and LCCA, as well as several social justice projects helping with the progression of students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Where are you based? East London via Kingston, Jamaica

Proudest moment or favourite project?
The one I'm working on currently. I've always wanted to create a queer POC love story on film with my practice, so I'm really happy the project I'm working on with Converse. They have given me the support to bring this to realisation with our current collaboration. Separate from that, continuing to build relationships with artists that are doing great things for the QTIPOC community.

Business advice you would like to share? Don't be afraid to ask for what you want.

Is there any way The Trampery or other members can work with you or support you?
I'm new here so please say hi! I'm always looking to work collaboratively with other creatives. Or just to chat.
